Print Media
This program prepares students for jobs in the graphic reproduction industry. Students gain valuable experience from training on a wide variety of printing presses and practicing printing processes, including exposure to direct-to-plate, four-color printing, and an introduction to graphic communications and applications. Students learn printing industry standards, trade language, measurements, calculations, work ethics, work rules, and related printing technology. They learn to identify supplies and materials used in producing finished printed copy, including types and weights of paper, inks, solutions, chemicals, and offset masters, while producing printed materials used in the college. Instruction on press adjustment procedures prepares the student to solve problems and to produce quality finished printed products. A strict emphasis on safety is a part of all areas of machine operation and work conduct. Work procedures follow industry methods with all work assignments flowing from job tickets. |
